Join us at Brighton Dome for a special talk by Philip Morgan on the history of Brighton Festival 1814 to 2001, from Roast beef to Anish Kapoor. A look at the history from the Summer of Peace in 1814 when the end of the Napoleonic wars was celebrated with a street party for 7,000 people to 2009 when a traffic jam was caused on the Brighton bypass by people queuing to experience Anish Kapoor’s C Curve… via Samuel Taylor Coleridge “The African Mahler”, Edward Elgar, Laurence Olivier and Tiny Tim.
